WOO HOO Bomshell Stamps Blog Hop!! 4/28 Pretty in Pink

Pretty In Pink

I asked everyone to use pink, pastel, or make a spring inspired project.
OR  an 80’s inspired project…

Check out some great quotes from the movie, "Pretty in Pink".

I like this one…
Andie: So what do you want to drink?
Duckie: Oh you know, beer, scotch, juice box... whatever.

While you hop, try cranking up one of these songs from the soundtrack.
Maybe that will jog your memory!

"Pretty In Pink" The Psychedelic Furs
"Wouldn't It Be Good" Nik Kershaw
"Round, Round" Belouis Some
"Copacabana (At The Copa)" Barry Manilow
"If You Leave" Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (as OMD).
"Shell-Shock" New Order
"Cherish" The Association
"Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" The Smiths

Hope you have fun hopping today!!
I mean I don’t remember this movie…I wouldn’t have been old enough to see it in the theaters …

From all those pictures (because I don't remember), here's my take on the 80s version of this challenge..

The Bombshell Angel is dressed using the DIGI clothes.
I used "Sure Cuts A Lot" and then cut the outfit using Cricut
The bright neon splatters, the checkered border (remember Vans)

Don't forget you have a chance at this great prize package!!

Gauche Alchemy Challenge

Go check it out !!  HERE !!

It was an ad inspiration...
Here's mine.

“When I saw this ad for inspiration it was the ad I had been waiting for. Too cool, retro, slick & fashionable. The perfect ad to inspire this layout of my “gun-slinging” days. When I was a “tween” my father signed me up for a gun safety class, which led to an invitation to join a Junior NRA rifle team. You may say….10-13 year old girls (and some guys) what could they do. Well, I worked my way through the ranks and shot competition beating out many a humbled and embarrassed adult male!! It was a great confidence booster for a young girl. Truly something you would never guess about me.

Iprinted the ad on vellum and colored on the back with Copic markers to give it that Pop Art look. Punchinella makes a great background for some of my “miniaturized” awards. The rest of the goodies are from Gauche Alchemy Color Kits: White Wedding Night, Blue Winter Slush, and Blackout. The stamp around the edge is from Bombshell Stamp’s Cherry Bomb set.

Bombshell Stamps - Baby's Got Back Challenge

We were supposed to make background paper using Bombshell Stamps...
Here is mine.  I used the sacred heart stamp.  The colored one and the banner are raised with foam squares.  I also added "Paper Glaze" for dimension.
The banner and words were cut with Cricut using Sure Cuts a Lot.

Easter Fun !!

Okay, I have been dying to try out some melted Easter Grass....?
I saw a technique where someone placed Easter Grass between wax paper and melted it for sheets.  I didn't do that yet...I will after Easter so that I don't have to hide. (it was a long time ago, and I don't remember where I saw it, sorry)

BUT yesterday, I saw these beautiful birds, jumbo plastic Chinese food containers and sparkly Easter grass.  Yes, I can hear you saying, "Yeah, so...."

Well, I pictured the birds sitting in magical little nest perched high atop the food containers.  Life is about making all your little dreams come true, right?!?

So here is how I did it.
#1 - Open the window now before the fumes overtake you! Place a fan to blow the fumes away from you ...and OUT the window!

#2 - Place glass jar upside down on a surface you don't care about, or protect it from the heat.  Then place a "hunk o' Easter grass" on top

#3 - Pull out that heat gun, you will have to start gently, or it will fly away.  Start by heating straight down so that it will stick together, and then work down onto the sides.  Let it cool, turn it over, voila !!

I place the bird inside poking the wire down through the nest, then through the center of the Chinese food container.  I need to finish decorating them, but I had to photograph this while they are in bed.

DON'T FORGET THE FAN AND OPEN WINDOW!!

The Gauche Girls Open Up Blog Hop !

If you've stopped by the Gauche Alchemy blog today, you'll see that a brand-spanking new team has been announced, (AND I AM ON IT!!  woo hoo)  and in honor of that, all the Gauche Girls are Opening Up.  If you haven't started at the beginning of our hop, Hop on back to the Gauche Blog and start the fun there. There are RAKs up for grabs along the hop, so make sure you comment on each Gauche Girl's blog for a chance to win some serious yumminess.

Now for the fun part: Each of us Gauche Girls has chosen a word that best describes Why we're so Gauche! Honey, this is where you need to work it a little! Here's what you do: Find all the words and which hoppin' hunny they belong to, head back to the GA Blog & post a comment with your answers - if you get it right, you get a shot at a kick-ass prize pack from The Head Honchettes themselves! See, it's EASY. If you have already started on the hop you should have come from ANGELA.

My word is
CHAOTIC
The dictionary defintion of chaos was something to the effect of craziness before the creation of something huge (it said a universe...I took it a little more vaguely)
That's kind of how I create.
It seldom ends up as it starts and always seems a little crazy & messy before I am done.
Chaotic also often fits other aspects of my life.
I am a homeschooling, work at home mom, that also likes art, music, scrapbooking, and generally making a mess.  So while at the end of the day (or week) most things I need to do get done,
the path there is sometimes a "little" crooked.

oh yeah....the coffee....well that keeps me going.

"Chaos fueled by caffeine"
If I had those sweatpants with the words printed on the back....that's what mine would say!!

List and techniques....
Dollar store frame
Burlap
Bombshell Stamps "Love & Luck" set
Vellum
Prima flowers
Punchinella
Coffee wrapper
various alpha stamps
vintage dictionary
Guache Alchemy goodies (Scarlet Fever/ Envy / Punchinella)

First I took a dollar store frame. and removed the glass (don't worry I am saving it for another project!)
I removed the cardboard back which I will replace at the end.
Cut burlap approximately 2" wider than the frame so that it will overlap to the back.

The coffee wrapper was stitched on.  I painted and inked the edges.
I stamped the Bombshell stamps (birds) on with Staz-on ink.
I used the punchinella below the coffee wrapper first as a mask, then as a stamp, then I glued it on the burlap.  My picture and the words were printed on vellum.
The photo is attached with staples, the words with a pin out of my GA goodies.
The ribbon, button, butterfly and flower centeres are from my GA goodies.

After preparing the front I hot glued it onto the frame by stretching it over the edges.
I then replaced the cardboard back.

Now you need to check out Steph's blog.... and stare at some more Gauchy Goodness and get to know the rest of the team.
